Light beaconing on a footpath

Footpaths are often synonymous with isolated sites, and in this case have no lighting. Depending on how often they are used (by pedestrians, cyclists) or how dangerous they are (ditches, kerbs, obstacles), it may be advisable to make them safer for users by using illuminated markings. The principle is not to illuminate the path, but to mark out the route with LED beacons so that users can see where they are going in advance.

Light beaconing on a footpath - Eco-Innov

This simple objective is perfectly achievable with fully autonomous solar LED beacons. Installation is very easy, and you can get started straight away.

When it is possible to connect to an electrical network, extra-low voltage wired studs become feasible, which will bring a gain in luminous power. However, the installation will be heavier.

LED studs to mark footpaths

LED studs are a much gentler solution for biodiversity, which is often rich around paths. With their low-angled beaconing (no light pollution towards the sky), controlled beam (no side light) and very low intensity compared with any other lighting, they offer a compromise between user safety and limiting light pollution for wildlife. With this in mind, warm LED colours (red, amber, 2700K white) should also be chosen.

Equipping footpaths with Eco-Innov luminous studs

Eco-Innov light beacons for footpaths offer a sustainable, environmentally-friendly and highly effective solution for lighting and providing safety for users. There are a few points to bear in mind when choosing the right equipment for this type of installation:

  • Embedded models are preferable to avoid the risk of users tripping,
  • Depending on the presence of vegetation (path bordered by grass or bushes), it would be preferable to install the light beacons in the centre rather than on the edges, as they would be regularly obscured. This would be detrimental to both the proper recharging of the solar models and the visibility of the LEDs,
  • On any footpath, the possibility of agricultural or maintenance vehicles passing through must be considered. This means choosing appropriately robust light beacons, even if this situation is not very common.
